NAMPA, Idaho – A 90th minute goal by McKenzie Buell was the difference as Northwest Nazarene topped College of Idaho 1-0 in a nail-biter on Saturday afternoon.
The Buell goal came after a combined 34 shots by both teams had been taken without finding the net. The tally was assisted by Carolyn Moravec and Chandler Kauffman.
Shae Waters worked a scoreless first half in the net, hauling in three saves to keep NNU (2-0) off the board.
The Yotes (1-2) had shots from
Dalani Brayton and
Megan Wilkinson in the last 10 minutes as C of I continued to pepper shots at the net throughout the contest.
For the game, NNU outshot the Yotes by just a shot at 18-17, with C of I posting a 7-6 edge in the first half. In the first 45 minutes, the Yotes had 10 shots and the Nighthawks 11 as both attacks kept the opposing keepers busy.
NNU had nine corners to six for C of I.
The Yotes hit the road to play George Fox next Friday evening.
