CALDWELL, Idaho – Eastern Oregon used big runs at the start of all three sets to complete a sweep of The College of Idaho inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The No. 15-ranked Mountaineers (9-4, 4-1 CCC) earned a 25-22, 25-14, 25-11 victory, using a 10-3 edge in total blocks, while hitting at a .314 percentage.
Setter Alexis McMurtrey had 25 assists and 10 digs – including an 8-point run on her serve to open the match.
The Yotes (4-9, 1-4) made a spirited rally, cutting the margin to 10-6 on a
Sydnee Steel ace, with kills from
Brenna Hawkins and
Emily Vandenberg getting C of I within 20-18 – but could not get closer.
The Mounties dominated the final two sets – opening a 19-7 lead in Set 2 and a 20-7 lead in Set 3 – to complete the road victory.
Jade Warren led the Yotes with seven kills, with Vandenberg and
Leyah de Souza each posting six kills. Steel had 12 assists and four digs, with
Masie Hancock recording 10 digs and two aces.
Sade Williams and Madison Morgan each had nine kills – with Morgan leading the team with five blocks. Breanna Shaffer led EOU with 17 digs to go along with six kills.
Both teams hit the road this weekend to Portland to meet Warner Pacific and Multnomah.
