Yotes Sweep Pair of Matches vs. Warner Pacific

CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho rebounded in a big way to close out Cascade Conference pod play, sweeping aside Warner Pacific in a pair of matches inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
 
The Yotes (4-5, 4-4 CCC) combined for 20 blocks and 11 aces in the two matches, while forcing the Knights into 50 attack errors – as all 16 C of I players saw action in both matches.
 
AM MATCH – COLLEGE OF IDAHO 3, WARNER PACIFIC 0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-17)
 
Danielle Neuman and Cameron Wallace each had seven kills without a hitting error, combining for 12 block assists in the convincing win.
 
Following eight first set ties, WPU (0-8, 0-8) took a 17-15, before Margie Beeler ignited an 8-0 run with a pair of aces, with Wallace adding two kills and two blocks in the initial win.
 
Set 2 saw the run continue as C of I scored 16 of the first 21 points – behind two Alyssa Espley aces and three Neuman blocks. The Yotes put away Set 3 late – as a kill and a stuff block by Sarah Gold broke a 14-14 tie, part of a deciding 6-point C of I run.
 
Wallace had seven blocks and Neuman added five in the win, with Brianna Barta recording five kills on six swings and Chloe Knudson posting 17 digs and three aces from her libero soot.
 
Grace Buchanan led all players with 14 kills in the losing effort.
 
PM MATCH – COLLEGE OF IDAHO 3, WARNER PACIFIC 0 (28-26, 25-14, 25-15)
 
A balanced offensive attack was the key for the Yotes, as four different players finished with six or more kills in the nightcap – which holding WPU to a .000 hitting percentage.
 
Set 1 was the most competitive of the day, as the Knights battled back from an early 10-5 deficit to pull event at 13-13. Eight additional ties would happen – with WPU earning a set point at 24-23 and the Yotes answering with set point chances at 25-24 and 26-25. However C of I finally broke through, scoring the final two points of the set on hitting errors.
 
C of I made quick work of Set 2 and Set 3 – getting three blocks from Jade Warren in a run to give the Yotes a 16-5 lead in Set 2, while Warren, Barta and Austyn Mauzy each had two kills as the Coyotes.
 
Wallace led the victors with 9 kills, Warren had eight kills and seven blocks, with Barta recording seven kills and four blocks. 

Buchanan had 10 kills for the Knights.
 
C of I will play their first road game next weekend, traveling to La Grande for meetings with EOU.
