Box Score EUGENE, Ore. - Despite a combined 13 kills and 14 blocks from
Leyah de Souza and
Jade Warren, The College of Idaho could not overcome a Bushnell University attack, as the Beacons earned a 25-18, 27-25, 25-21 victory over the Yotes inside the Morse Event Center.
Warren finished the night with six kills and eight blocks, while de Souza led the Coyotes (8-12, 5-7 CCC) with seven kills on 15 swings and a career-best six blocks.
The Beacons (14-2, 10-2) jumped out to an 8-3 lead in Set 1, using four aces in the period to earn the early win.
Set 2 went back-and-forth, featuring 14 ties and nine lead changes, with the Beacons taking a 23-20 lead late in the frame. C of I answered with three straight points and earned set point on an
Austyn Mauzy ace. Unfortunately for the visitors, BU got back-to-back kills and forced a Coyote hitting error to rally for the win.
C of I rallied in Set 3 from a 6-1 deficit, scoring 6-straight points to take a 10-9 lead after consecutive blocks from de Souza and Warren. Following six ties, the Beacons took a 22-21 lead and closed the set out with three-straight points.
The Yotes recorded 12 blocks in the loss and hit at a .180 percentage on the night.
Shay Coons led BU with 12 kills.
