CALDWELL, Idaho – The four College of Idaho senior student-athletes closed out their careers in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center on a high note, rolling to a 3-set victory over rival Southern Oregon.
The 25-21, 25-19, 26-24 win kept the Coyotes (13-15, 10-10 CCC) alive in the Cascade Conference postseason hunt – using a .303 hitting percentage, seven services aces and eight team blocks in the victory. C of I trailed just once in the match – for a total of one point.
Seniors
Danielle Neuman,
Cameron Wallace,
Austyn Mauzy and
Masie Hancock were key in the victory – Neuman recording eight kills and four blocks, Wallace posting six kills and four blocks, Mauzy contributing seven kills, 10 digs and three aces, with Hancock adding two aces and two digs.
The Yotes grabbed control of Set 1 with a 5-0 run, as Wallace and Neuman had two combo blocks to build a 9-4 edge – a lead they would not surrender. C of I would dominate Set 2, scoring the first seven points and rolled to the victory.
The Raiders (12-12, 7-12) rallied from a 15-8 deficit in Set 3 to pull even at 20-20 on a combo block and withstood a C of I match point at 24-23. However, an
Emily Vandenberg kill gave the hosts a second match point, with
Chayla Slavin ending the match with a stuff block.
Vandenberg led C of I with 12 kills, with
Sidney Frith adding 30 assists.
SOU was paced by Hailey Van Well's 14 kills, but the Raiders lost the match despite a 41-38 edge in total kills.
C of I closes out the regular-season next weekend with road matches at Evergreen and Northwest.
