CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho pounded out 48 kills at a stellar .396 percentage, rolling to a 3-set victory over Warner Pacific inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The win for the Yotes (12-14, 9-9 CCC) was their fourth in five matches and pulled the team into a 3-way tie with Evergreen and Lewis-Clark State for the sixth and final playoff spot with two weeks left in the regular season.
C of I scored the first eight points of the match, including two
Isabelle Combs aces and rolled to the opening win. The hosts would use a 7-0 run in Set 2, getting three
Chayla Slavin kills in the outburst, to push a lead to 17-7, easing to the set win.
The Knights (1-18, 1-17) played tough in Set 3, taking a 14-13 lead on a Coyote attack error. C of I answered by scoring nine of the next 11 points – including two kills and an ace from Combs – to put the set and match away.
Ten different Coyote players had at least one kill, with
Danielle Neuman pacing the squad with 11. Slavin had a career-high six kills, with
Emily Vandenberg and
Jade Warren recording five kills in limited action.
Sidney Frith finished with 41 assists and libero
Sydnee Steel posting 19 digs.
