9/23/2020 1:00:00 PM

CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho head coach Tyler Maryon has announced nine student-athletes have signed Letters of Intent to join the men's and women's swimming and diving program for the 2020-21 season.

The recruiting class includes six women and three men – with seven of the athletes competing in swim events and the Yotes adding a pair of divers.

For the Coyote women, Oregon standout Elizabeth Beck headlines an outstanding class. Hailing from Lebanon High, the same school as former C of I All-American Maddy Kelly, Beck posted four Top-4 finishes at the 5A state championships – including a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle as a senior. She has top times of 5:24 in the 500-yard freestyle and 18:30 in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Joining her are three podium finishers from the Idaho state championships – Macey Cannon Kailey Owen and Micah Sharples. Cannon, from Nampa High, took third in the 200-yard IM at the 4A Championships (2:18.31); Owen, from Boise High, took third in the 100-yard backstroke (59.87) and fifth in the 200-yard IM (2:12.83), helping her team to the 5A state title; with Sharples, from Post Falls High, posting quality marks of 5:22 in the 500-yard freestyle and 2:10.55 in the 200-yard backstroke.

Two others will be joining the women's team – distance swimmer Ally Webb and diver Dakota Cline. Webb, from Clarkston, Wash., transfers to C of I from Division II Notre Dame College in Ohio, while Cline, a Boise native, looks to add depth to the dive program.

Both Josh Hudlet and Cameron Wells look to make an immediate impact for the men's program. Hudlet, from Coeur d'Alene High, qualified for the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-IM at the 5A state championships. Wells, from Hilo, Hawaii, had a banner senior season at Christian Liberty High, placing second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.59) and 500-yard freestyle (4:52.45) at the Hawaii Interscholastic League championships.

Multi-sport athlete Jacob Nelson, who will also compete for the C of I football and track teams, will join the Coyote dive program. Nelson won the Valley League diving championship as a senior at Ramona High in California, posting a 6-dive score of 265.00.
