KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Drew Dobney became the latest College of Idaho player to reach the 1,000-dig mark for a career, helping the Yotes extend their win streak over Oregon Tech to 23 in a row, sweeping the Owls in three sets at Danny Miles Court.
Dobney led all players with 21 digs in the 25-18, 25-18, 25-10 victory for the Yotes (10-5, 5-3 CCC), becoming the 17th player in program history to surpass the 1,000-dig mark.
Ashley Pagan had an extremely efficient night, recording 12 kills on 22 swings with just one attack error, adding six digs and three blocks.
Kaydre Thompson had nine kills and a team-high four blocks, while both
Jordyn Boswell and
Austyn Mauzy had eight kills. Setter
Abigail Guinn logged 32 assists and seven digs.
C of I trailed 17-16 in Set 1 before Pagan recorded a pair of kills, followed by a service ace – part of a closing 9-1 run.
The Owls (11-7, 4-4) used their own 9-1 run in Set 2 to build a 10-5 lead – only to see Pagan rattle off three consecutive kills in a 6-0 C of I surge that gave the Yotes a lead they would not surrender.
Set 3 was all C of I, as the Coyotes ended the match on a 17-5 run – holding OIT to a negative .037 hitting percentage.
Nicole Reyes led Tech with eight kills, but the Yotes held a 42-26 edge in kills and a 51-38 edge in digs.
The Yotes return home on Friday to start a 6-game home stand with a 7 p.m. match-up vs. Multnomah.
