PORTLAND, Ore. –
Jade Warren recorded a career-high 15 kills to lead the College of Idaho to a come-from-behind 5-set victory at Warner Pacific inside C.C. Perry Gym.
The No. 25 Yotes (16-10, 11-8 CCC) kept their hopes for a Cascade Conference Tournament home quarterfinal match alive, rallying from a two-set deficit to win 19-25, 24-26, 25-14, 25-21, 15-10.
A win in tomorrow's regular-season finale vs. Multnomah, a Northwest Christian win over Walla Walla and an Evergreen loss at Southern Oregon, would net C of I the No. 4 seed in the upcoming league tournament and a Tuesday home quarterfinal date.
The Coyotes postseason aspirations were on the brink – as the Knights (5-18, 4-15) rallied from an 11-3 deficit in Set 1 to win and scored the final three points of Set 2 after C of I held set-point at 24-23.
The visitors responded with a big third set, jumping to a 13-4 lead behind Warren, who had three kills and a block in the run. In Set 4,
Danielle Neuman combined for three straight blocks in a key C of I run, with a
Mackenzie Keating kill and
Ashley Pagan ace late in the period giving the Yotes the final cushion.
WPU grabbed a 6-4 lead in Set 5, but the Yotes rattled off 7-straight points on the serve of
Jordyn Boswell, getting kills from Warren and
Austyn Mauzy, along with three Knights errors, to take a lead they would not surrender.
Warren added six blocks in the win, with Mauzy recording 13 kills and Keating adding 11 kills. Setter
Abigail Guinn netted a double-double with 47 assists and 13 digs, with Neuman finishing with seven kills and six blocks.
Grace Buchanan led WPU with 14 kills and six blocks and Gennah Schoen had seven kills and 12 blocks, as the Knights held a 16-12 edge at the net.
