WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A pair of late chances for a game-winning goal just missed for the Lady Yotes, as the College of Idaho at Whitworth University battled to a 0-0 draw at the Whitman Athletic Fields.
The Yotes (2-0-1) had two great opportunities in the second extra session, as a long thru-ball found the foot of
Madison Glascock, but her 1-v-1 chance was stopped by Pirates keeper Isabelle Arends, while a
Cameron Coyle 25-yard blast from just outside the area banged off the underside of the crossbar – but did not cross the goal line.
Whitworth (1-1-1) dominated the first 60 minutes of the match – holding a 12-3 edge in shots, as C of I needed two early
Kylee Atkins stops and a team save to clear a Rachel Wofford shot away from the goal mouth.
Atkins and
Shae Waters combined for six saves in the clean sheet, as the Bucs held an 18-9 overall edge in total shots. C of I was unable to put away any of their seven corner kick opportunities.
The Yotes close out non-league play tomorrow, meeting host Whitman at 2 p.m. (PT)
