Ashley Pagan became the 16th player in program history to record 1,000 digs, as the College of Idaho closed the regular-season with a three-set win at Walla Walla University.
The No. 16-ranked Lady Yotes (21-7, 16-4 CCC) completed a weekend road sweep with the 25-14, 25-20, 25-20 victory – securing the No. 3 seed in the Cascade Conference Championships. C of I will play host to Evergreen on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. – with the winner advancing to the CCC final site in Ashland, Ore.
Facing a Wolves (0-21, 0-20 CCC) team that has lost 42 matches in a row, C of I got two Pagan aces in a 7-0 first set that gave the visitors a commanding 21-12 lead on their way to the early win.
WWU battled back from a 16-10 deficit in Set 2, rolling off eight-straight points – including two Sierra Ferro aces. C of I turned to van Vliet, who blasted consecutive kills in a 9-2 run to end the set. Fellow middle,
Danielle Neuman closed out Set 3 with a bang, using a smash and a stuff block to help the Yotes add to a 21-18 lead en route to completing the sweep.
Taylor Alexander had nine kills in the victory, with Neuman recording seven kills in nine swings, adding three blocks. Pagan had three kills and three aces, with her six digs pushing her career total to 1,001.
Lauren Barlow led WWU with nine kills.
