KIRKLAND, Wash. – Avenging a road loss from last season, the College of Idaho rolled to a three-set victory at No. 25 ranked Northwest University to pull into a tie for first-place in the Cascade Conference standings.
The No. 8 ranked Lady Yotes (12-1, 4-1 CCC) hit at a .315 clip, adding seven aces and eight team blocks in the 25-15, 25-22, 25-15 win – joining Corban and Eastern Oregon atop the league standings.
C of I opened the match quickly, getting a pair of
Taylor Alexander kills and a
Brenna Meehan aces in a 6-1 run – a lead the Coyotes did not relinquish.
Set 2 was tight, featuring 16 ties and six lead changes. The Eagles (9-4, 3-2) got a pair of Hannah Lord spikes in a 6-1 surge to take a 19-16 lead, but C of I turned to Meehan, who clocked two kills, with
Ashley Pagan adding two more, as the Yotes scored nine of the final 12 points to earn the set win.
C of I closed out the match in a big way, ending the night on a 10-2 run – with
Jackie van Vliet, Pagan and Alexander each recording two kills in the surge.
Alexander and Pagan each had 13 kills to pace the Yotes, with Meehan adding 10 kills and 10 digs. The Coyotes got five kills and five blocks from van Vliet, with
Marija Djonovic leading all players with 35 assists.
Mattie Jo Johnson and Amanda Waterman each had eight kills to lead NU.
C of I returns to action tomorrow with a 7 p.m. match-up at Evergreen.
