KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Brenna Meehan had 18 kills and 13 digs, while tying a career-high with seven aces, as the College of Idaho remained unbeaten on the season with a five-set victory at Oregon Tech.
The No. 25 ranked Lady Yotes (9-0, 1-0 CCC) won for the ninth time in a row, hitting at a season-best .355 percent in the 25-11, 21-25, 25-15, 22-25, 15-11 victory – their 19th-straight win over OIT.
Meehan set the tone in Set 1, as the Yotes rattled off the first nine points of the match – with the senior at one point recording five consecutive aces – as C of I hit .565 in the period.
Tech (2-3, 0-1) used a tough serving game themselves in Set 2, building a 22-17 lead and holding off a late C of I rally.
The teams split the middle sets – C of I using a 17-5 run in Set 3 to erase an early 4-1 OIT lead – as Meehan,
Ashley Pagan and
Taylor Alexander each had four kills in the period. The Yotes led 16-15 in Set 4, but two Camryn Johnson aces fueled a six-point push by the Owls to force the final set.
The teams battled to three early ties in the clinching frame, before Meehan spiked down a trio of kills in an 8-2 run that put the match away.
Pagan had 16 kills and Alexander recorded 13 kills and three blocks for the Yotes, with
Marija Djonovic leading all players with 52 assists. Faryn Case, Bailey Nelson and Kristin DePaoli all had 10 kills for OIT.
C of I closes out their 10 match road swing tomorrow at Southern Oregon.
