Lady Yotes Take Two From Carroll in Run-Rule Wins

CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho combined two outstanding pitching performances with a 17-run outburst, as the Lady Yotes swept a doubleheader from Carroll College at Symms Field.

Colette Robert tossed a two-hitter and Trystin Crofts drove in three runs in a 9-1 win in the opener, with Alex Kordopatis spinning a three-hit shutout and Delaney Atkins went 4-for-4 in an 8-0 victory in Game 2. The Lady Yotes (8-11, 5-4 CCC) won two of the three Cascade Conference counting games – notching their second-straight league series win.

Robert was outstanding in the circle, surrendering an unearned run in the first on an Allison Williams base hit, but retired the final 16 batters in a row to pick up her fifth win of the year.

C of I took the lead in the second, as a Katelyn Geyer single and Martha Tooley double set up Crofts, who punched an RBI single into right field for a 2-1 lead. An inning later, Hailey Chambers singled home a run and tacked on two unearned runs in the fifth inning to push the margin to 5-1. The Yotes won the game with a 4-run sixth, as Crofts led off with her first career home run, Destiny Turner singled home two runs and Ashley Pesek ended the game with a pinch-hit RBI single.

Crofts finished 3-for-3 with three RBI, with Courtney Ellis going 3-for-3 with two runs scored in the win – part of a 12-hit attack.

Game 2 was all Coyotes – as Turner launched a two-run home run in the first and Atkins ripped a three-run blast in the second to give the hosts a 5-0 lead. C of I ended the game in the sixth inning, loading the bases with nobody out and Chambers gapping a two-run double.

Kordopatis recorded her second career shutout, limiting the Saints (4-7, 3-3) to three singles, striking out three. Atkins was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI; Turner was 2-for-2 with two RBI; and Ellis was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

C of I remains home next weekend, hosting rival Eastern Oregon in a four-game weekend series.
