Box Score 2 MEDFORD, Ore. – Oregon Tech pitchers held the College of Idaho offense in check all afternoon, as the Owls blanked the Lady Yotes in both ends of today's doubleheader at U.S. Cellular Fields.
OIT (12-5, 3-3 CCC) earned an 8-0 run-rule victory in the opener, while using a 3-run fifth inning rally to win Game 2, 3-0.
Tara Moates went 4-for-4 in the opener for the Owls, getting Tech on the scoreboard with an RBI single in the third and ending the game in the sixth with a two-run home run. Kelly Scott tossed a 3-hit shutout for OIT, striking out four.
The Yotes (5-10, 3-3) were limited to singles from
Delaney Atkins,
Destiny Turner and
Angelina Romero and had just one scoring threat – putting runners at first and second in the opening inning, but could not plate a run.
Tech scored all three runs in the fifth inning – plating a run on a wild pitch and two more on a Sadie Birch two-run single. C of I had chances in the final two innings, but OIT turned a double play in each frame to work out of trouble.
Bentli Corta and
Ashley Pesek each had two hits for the Yotes, with
Alex Kordopatis allowing just six hits and striking out four in the circle.
Katie Virtue had two hits for the Owls, with Ali Graham tossing a six-hit shutout.
C of I returns home next weekend for a four-game weekend series vs. Carroll College.
