CALDWELL, Idaho - No. 13 College of Idaho picked up their 20th win of the season tonight in their sweep of Cascade Conference foe Northwest University.
The Yotes and Eagles battled in the first set with neither team leading by more than three points for the entire set. The Yotes picked up the hard-fought victory of 28-26 with an Ashely Pagan kill. The Yotes had the edge in attack percentage with .188 compared to .179 by the Eagles. The Yotes posted far more kills in the first set - 22 compared to 14 - but had nine errors compared to just four by the Eagles.
The Yotes wrapped up the second set easily with a score of 25-17. They started with an early 6-1 lead, but the Eagles would use two service aces by Morgan Pilon to tie the set up 10-10. A
Miah Perez aces and two Pagan kills would give the Yotes back the 14-10 advantage and they'd lead by four or more points for the remainder of the set. They had an attack percentage of .325 compared to the Eagles's .179 in the second set and won the set with a score of 25-17.
Similar to the first set, neither team lead by more than three points for the entire set. The Yotes would battle for the match using two Eagle service errors and a Perez ace to win the set 28-26. The Yotes posted an attack percentage of .233 compared to the Eagles's .238.
Pagan led in kills with 17 and was second in digs with 17. She had an overall attack percentage of .302.
Marija Djonovic led in assists with 43 while also putting up 14 digs and three kills. Kilee Lopez led in digs with 18.
Taylor Alexander and
Alaina Slater also put up double-digit kills with 12 and 10 while
Josie Whitehead also had double-digit digs with 13. Slater and
Jackie van Vliet led in blocks with three each. Overall, the team had an attack percentage of .237.
The Yotes have their final road trip next weekend, taking on Northwest Christian on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. PT and Corban on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. PT.
