CALDWELL, Idaho –
Brittany Houghton recorded her fourth career match with double-digit saves, helping the College of Idaho end an Eastern Oregon seven game win streak, as the two rivals played to a 0-0 draw at Simplot Stadium.
Houghton made 12 saves on the day – one off her career high – as the Lady Yotes (5-7-1, 3-5-1 CCC) became the first Cascade Conference team this season to take a point off the first-place Mountaineers.
Eastern (8-2-2, 7-0-1) had a 20-6 edge in total shots, with the majority of their attempts from well outside the area – but Houghton was a wall between the posts – stopping seven shots on goal in the second half alone. It was her fifth shutout of the season and pushed her school record career total to 19.
The Yotes had a first half 1-v-1 chance called back due to an offside call and had a
Julia Fretwell header in the second half miss just wide. EOU had four chances in the second overtime period, but could not find the twine, while keeper Cyndi Cottrell made five saves to help Eastern complete the clean sheet.
C of I closes out their home schedule on Sunday, hosting Warner Pacific at 3 p.m.
