COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – An efficient afternoon at the net helped the College of Idaho to their most dominant win of the 2016 season, a 25-10, 25-12, 25-11 victory over Walla Walla University at Windemuth Court.
The Yotes (6-4, 1-1 CCC) hit at a stellar .468 clip – one of the Top-10 marks in program history, as C of I recorded just 10 hitting errors on the night, while adding 10 aces in the victory.
Six Wolves (0-1, 0-1) hitting errors, coupled with two kills from both
Ashley Pagan and
Katy Robinson, helped C of I take a 16-3 lead in Set 1 and take the opening frame.
Cheyan Coburn had three of her team-high five aces in 7-1 run midway through Set 2 to help the Yotes take the period, while a 16-4 run in Set 3 broke a 5-5 tie, giving C of I the victory.
Pagan had a career-high eight kills in 10 swings, with
Jackie van Vliet converting 7-of-8 swings for kills, adding three blocks. Robinson was a perfect 5-of-5 on swing chances, with
Sydney Call recording 19 assists and three aces.
WWU struggled mightily – recording just 12 digs and had more hitting errors (16) than kills (10).
C of I opens the home schedule next weekend with matches against Northwest Christian and Corban.
