Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – Leah Hippauf scored off a Mhari Smith assist in the 57th minute, breaking a tie and giving Rocky Mountain College a 2-1 victory over the College of Idaho in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams at Wendy's Field.
After the two teams traded early first half goals, the squads played between the 18-yard-lines for the majority of the afternoon, combining for just 14 shots – and only six on frame. But it was Hippauf, who took a long feed from Smith to slot a ball home in the second half to provide the winning margin.
Smith got the Bears (4-3, 1-0 CCC) on the board in the fifth minute, scoring an unassisted tally, only to see C of I answer off the restart, as
Katelyn Benavidez drove home a shot to even the score.
The Lady Yotes (3-2, 0-1) played even with RMC throughout, though the Bears held an 8-6 edge in shots and a 5-3 edge in corners, but C of I held a 5-2 edge in shots on frame.
C of I returns to action tomorrow with a non-conference match at Montana State Billings.
