HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. - Sustained winds of nearly 40 miles per hour forced the College of Idaho and Saint Martin's University to cancel the opening game of the 2016 Northwest Cup at Hood View Park.
The gusts forced the temporary outfield wall to be set down - with NCAA rules forbidding a game to be played without an enclosed outfield.
The teams, instead, battled the wind for a seven inning scrimmage.
Both teams will begin tournament play tomorrow - with the Yotes meeting Simon Fraser and Concordia-Irvine.
