SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The Lady Yotes fell in dramatic fashion to Carroll College 0-0 (4-2 PK) in the quarterfinals of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank on Friday.

This marked the first ever match by the Lady Yotes to go to a penalty kick shootout in school history.

Carroll College (11-3-4) controlled the first half over the Yotes (7-6-4), outshooting them 8-2. Brittany Houghton recorded two of the three saves for the College of Idaho in the first half.

First-team All-Conference selection Summer Jackson got one shot off in the half, the only one on target for the Yotes, resulting in a save by Jamie Carter.Â

The second half proved to have more chances for the Yotes as they outshot the Saints 9-8 but both sides failed score. Houghton tallied four more saves and the Yotes led in corners 3-2.
Neither side gave any ground in the overtime periods, with the Saints taking 5 shots to the Yotes' 3. Houghton recorded another two saves and ended the match with eight saves.Â

For the first time in school history, the Yotes decided a match by penalty kicks. Carroll took an early lead on a PK by Ylena Gazdik in the first round.Â

Reilly Coyle made a crucial PK to keep the Yotes within striking range 2-1 after the second round.
Carroll pull ahead 3-1 in the third round after a made attempt by Payton Netz; however, Houghton made a game-saving stop and a PK Jamiece Yizar pulled the Yotes within one.

Talya Vaira found the back of the net in the final round to clinch the match for the Saints and Carroll moves on to the semifinals of the conference tournament.

Sabrina Mallett led the Lady Yotes with five shots, followed by Katelyn Benavidez with three and Jackson with two.
