CALDWELL, Idaho –
Maddie Brown scored a pair of second half goals helping the College of Idaho run their unbeaten streak to four matches, outlasting the Evergreen State College, 3-1, at Simplot Stadium.
After a first half where the Lady Yotes (7-5-1, 3-4-1 CCC) had multiple near chances, C of I converted their first opportunity in the first minute after the break, as
Jamiece Yizar played a cross to the back post – finding the head of Brown, who touched home the goal.
Yizar and Brown would connect again midway through the period, as Yizar made a long run down the right side, playing to ball to
Bailey Watson in the box – who played perfect cross to Brown, ripping home the sitter for the 2-0 lead.
The Geoducks (2-6-3, 0-5-3), who lost for the first time this season when scoring a goal, cut the margin in half in the 75th minute, as Loren Switzer played a perfect through-ball to Alli Crain, who slotted home a low shot inside the near post.
C of I got a key insurance goal with less than two minutes remaining, as
Emma Powley made a great cross to the left corner of the 6-yard-box, with the waiting
Allie Boyd slamming home the counter.
The Yotes held a 15-11 edge in total shots and had all four corner kicks in the match. Keeper
Brittany Houghton made six saves to earn the victory.
C of I closes out their home schedule on Sunday, hosting Northwest University at 2:30 p.m. – the final regular-season home match for six senior student-athletes.
