CALDWELL, Idaho – Destiny Turner was 5-for-6 with four RBI helping the College of Idaho to a doubleheader split with Northwest Christian at rainy Symms Field.
The Lady Yotes (10-14, 2-2 CCC) dominated the opener, 8-0, but the Beacons used timely hits in the latter innings to steal Game 2, 5-4.
Cortni Pena tossed a two-hit shutout in Game 1, providing the walk-off two-run double to end the game in the fifth inning.
Turner got the Yotes going, roping an RBI double in the first inning, and then drilling a two-run double in the fifth inning. Alexis Macias added her team-high fourth homer of the season in the third inning.
Game 2 saw the Coyotes scored two in the first on back-to-back triples from Destiny Campbell and Turner, but the Beacons (5-15, 2-2) grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fifth after a two-run double from Addy Hoskins and a sacrifice fly from Ashlee Cole.
C of I tied the game on a Katie Rowe single in the bottom of the inning, but a two-run sixth inning by NCU put the game out of reach.
Turner was 3-for-3 in the Game 2 loss, while Hoskins was 2-for-4 with three RBI for NCU.
