SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Crystal Schuder scored three goals to lift Eastern Oregon to a 4-0 victory over the College of Idaho in the semifinals of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank
The Mountaineers (17-2) move on to the title game on Saturday against Carroll College. Â The Lady Yotes saw their season come to an end after tying a school record with 14 wins and advancing to the league tournament semifinals for the first time since 2009.
Schuder opened the scoring in the 15th minute, making a nice run around a pair of C of I (14-4) defenders and firing a shot just inside the left post for the 1-0 lead. Â EOU would extend the margin to 2-0 in the 34th minute, as Makensie Forsyth eluded the Yotes defense and bent a shot into the top corner of the goal.
C of I put pressure on the Mountaineers in the first 10- minutes of the second half, getting four shots, including two on frame, but could not crack the defense. Â Schuder put the game away with back-to-back goals - the first in the 59th minute off a Zoe Anderson corner kick, the second two minutes later after a long ball freed her up for a 1-on-1 try.
EOU held a 17-9 shot advantage, with both teams attempting four corner kicks.
