CALDWELL, Idaho – A dominating defensive performance by the College of Idaho helped the Lady Yotes to their sixth-straight win, a three-set victory over Oregon Tech inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
PHOTO GALLERY - Oregon Tech at C of I The Yotes (10-8, 8-2 CCC) forced OIT into 27 hitting errors, using 11 team blocks in a 25-12, 25-11, 25-19 win, their 14th-straight win over the Owls. C of I hit .267 on the evening, improving to 10-0 this season when recording a .250 or higher attack percentage.
C of I rolled early in Set 1, getting three Kylie Porter kills and a pair of spikes from Katy Robinson in a 13-2 run to take a 20-7 lead, easing to the first period win.
Set 2 was more of the same, as Robinson had three kills and Abbey Fenton logged to, as the Yotes opened the frame on a 19-7 run to take a commanding two set lead in the match.
OIT (10-6, 5-5) got in system in Set 3, getting a combo-block from Mykala Rubey and Alexa Burdett, followed by a C of I error, to take their largest lead of the night at 13-10. The Yotes by scoring six of the next seven points, including two Jackie van Vliet kills, to take the lead for good – ending the match on a van Vliet-Randi Sturtz tandem block.
Porter continued a big weekend with 10 kills and four blocks – including two stuff blocks – with Fenton adding eight kills. Robinson had six kills and three blocks; van Vliet had six kills and five blocks; Sierra Porter recorded 31 assists; and Kilee Lopez led the team with 12 digs.
Kelsey Sampson led Tech with seven kills and eight digs, while Tori Porter had 11 assists and five digs.
C of I returns to action on Tuesday night, traveling to La Grande, Ore., for a match-up against No. 7 ranked Eastern Oregon.
