Lady Yotes Drop Two Tough Games at Oregon Tech

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - An out away from winning Game 1, the College of Idaho watched Oregon Tech grab a pair of Cascade Conference victories, 3-2 and 5-2, at the OIT Softball Complex.

The No. 15 ranked Lady Yotes (12-6, 4-2 CCC) led 2-1 in the seventh, but OIT used a two-out rally, capped by a Tori Weatherford RBI infield single, to force extra innings.

C of I put runners at first and second with one out in the eighth, but the Yotes hit into their third double play of the game to end the threat. The No. 22 ranked Owls (13-5, 6-0) quickly ended the game in the bottom of the eighth, as Alyssa Davis led off with a single and scored on a Tasha Silvius RBI double.

The Yotes took a quick 2-0 lead in the second, as Cortni Pena had a sacrifice fly and Paige Gabiola notched an RBI infield single, but Tech cut into the lead in the bottom of the inning on back-to-back doubles from Danielle Sayres and Shawna Collins.

Cassidy Olson worked around six hits to earn the win for Tech, while Nickayla Skinner struck out 10 in a losing effort for C of I.

Game 2 saw the Owls bolt to a 5-0 lead and hang on for the win. Weatherford started the scoring with a solo homer in the first, with a Collins two-run double in the second capping a three-run inning. Tre Sullivan made it a five-run game with a third inning solo homer.

The Coyotes got back in the game in the fifth, as McKensie Stanton hit a two-run homer, her third of the year. An inning later, the Yotes had two on with two out, but had the final out of the inning occur at home plate.

Jessi Duncan allowed just five hits and struck out four in the win for OIT, while Pena took the loss for C of I.

The Lady Yotes travel to Southern Oregon for a Saturday doubleheader, beginning at 11 a.m.
