Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho - Acacia Johnson scored two goals as Northwest University flew by the College of Idaho in a 3-1 victory at Simplot Stadium.
The Eagles (8-5-1, 6-0-0 CCC) won their seventh match in a row, maintaining their unbeaten record in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Johnson scored her 13th goal of the season in the 21st minute, breaking through two C of I defenders, blasting her first shot attempt at a diving Brittany Houghton, finishing off the rebound with a flick to the back of the net.
The Lady Yotes (6-4-3, 3-1-2) dropped their first CCC game of the season, falling for only the second time inside Simplot Stadium this year. Brianna Blair scored the equalizer goal in the 47th minute as Katelyn Benavidez played a ball from left to right, just outside the goalkeeper box, finding the foot of Blair and knotting the match up at one. The goal stands as the first goal the Eagles have allowed in CCC play this season, previously outscoring their opponents 10-0.
Northwest would not allow the match to stay tied for long, scoring in the 51st minute as Johnson played the ball to the top of the 18 with Tatyana Reveles touching the feed to the unmarked Annie-Bryn Stauffer who flicked the ball into the left corner of the net.
The Eagles would add an insurance goal in the 69th minute as Reveles played a cross to the middle of the box, finding Johnson who scored her second goal of the day to complete the scoring.
Northwest outshot C of I 14-12 on the match with both teams getting eight shots on frame.
The physical match saw 27 total fouls with Northwest claiming 17 of them.
C of I will be back in action against Evergreen on Saturday as the Lady Yotes will honor three of their players for Senior Day.
