SPOKANE, Wash. – Annamarie Lopez scored her first collegiate goal early in the second half and Melissa Holmes-Joseph turned away four shots on goal, helping The College of Idaho hold off the University of Great Falls, 1-0, in the final game of the Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Challenge.
After a scoreless first half, Lopez took a pass from Summer Jackson at the top of the 18 and chipped a shot over the head of UGF keeper Jocelyn Morris for the lone goal of the contest.
Holmes-Joseph made the goal stand up, making a key save midway through the second half – as the Lady Yotes (2-2) evened their record up on the young season.
C of I held a 12-8 edge in total shots, including a 6-4 edge in shots on goal – while recording a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Yotes return to action next Saturday – meeting rival Northwest Nazarene in Nampa at 4 p.m.
