Big Night From Nawahine Leads Yotes to Win

Box Score

CALDWELL, Idaho – Kylie Nawahine had eight kills and a career-high 24 digs, helping The College of Idaho complete a perfect home weekend, toppling Northwest University, 25-20, 25-9, 25-17 in Cascade Conference action at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Set 1 saw the Yotes (2-7, 2-1 CCC) jump out to a 17-10 lead after Sierra Porter quick-hit a Nawahine pass, but NU cut the margin to 20-19 on a Rae Ann Hastings kill. Following a C of I timeout, a service error and a Sofia Anxo kill gave the Yotes breathing room, with a Nawahine spike ended the frame.

Set 2 was all C of I, as Anxo had a trio of kills in a 12-1 run to open the period, cruising to the win. Set 3 was close early, as the teams combined for eight ties and two lead changes, before two Liz Myers kills in a 5-0 run erased an 11-10 Eagles (5-8, 1-3) lead, helping the Yotes to the win.

Anxo led C of I with 11 kills, with Myers adding 10 kills and three blocks. Porter had 38 kills and 10 digs, with Janel Porter leading all players with 26 digs.
