NAMPA, Idaho - Lexi Fenesbek tallied a goal and an assist, helping Northwest Nazarene defeat rival College of Idaho, 2-0, at the NNU Soccer Complex.
The Crusaders (1-2), who picked up the first career win for head coach Mary Trigg, scored a single goal in each half to win their second-straight against their Canyon County foe.
NNU broke a scoreless deadlock in the 31st minute, as Fenesbek played a cross into the box, finding the head of Kelsey Martin, who clanked her header off the right post and and in for the 1-0 lead.
The hosts would add to the lead just 41 seconds into the second half, as Fenesbek pounced on a loose ball after Melissa Holmes-Joseph made a diving save off a drive from Lauren Kuklenski, slotting home the insurance goal.
NNU held a 13-9 edge in total shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. The Yotes had their best chance in the final minute of the second half, as a shot by Jamiece Yizar clanged off the cross bar.
