CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho head football coach Mike Moroski has announced the signing of a pair of student-athletes to Frontier Conference Letter of Intents.
Jason Byce, a linebacker from Twin Falls High, and Andrew Galloway, an offensive lineman from Payette High, are the newest additions to the Coyote recruiting class as The C of I is prepping for a return to the gridiron in 2014.
“Both of these players lead by example,” said Moroski. “They are the type of player both on and off the field that we are looking for to build this program.”
Byce, a 5-11, 185-pound linebacker, recorded 115 tackles as a junior and 117 tackles as a senior – leading the Great Basin Conference both seasons. In 2012, he was honored as Co-GBC Player of the Year and was a second-team 4A All-State selection. He is the first player that TFHS head coach Allyn Reynolds has had sign a Letter of Intent in his six years at the helm.
“Jason is a playmaker – he has great hips and has a knack for getting off blocks, around blocks, and through blocks,” said Moroski. “He will make a lot of tackles for us in his time as a Coyote.”
Galloway, a 6-2, 265-pound offensive lineman, was a three-time All-Snake River Valley Conference selection and earned 3A All-State honors in 2011 and 2012, helping PHS to their only two playoff wins in program history. He will also compete in track and field for the Coyotes, as he won the 2012 3A state titles in both the shot put and discus.
“Andrew is a lead by example guy who has outstanding technique,” said Moroski. “He has great lower body strength, along with great footwork, and will be one of our leaders on the offensive line.”
