Mendiola Wins #300, Lady Yotes Move into First-Place

Box Score

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - College of Idaho head coach Liz Mendiola won her 300th career match, as the Lady Yotes swept Oregon Tech, 25-17, 25-18, 25-14 at Danny Miles Court.
Mendiola, in her 13th year at the helm, becomes the first women's coach in C of I history to eclipse the 300 win mark and joins basketball coach Marty Holly and baseball coaches Shawn Humberger and Tim Mooney in the 300-club.
The win for the Lady Yotes (13-9, 13-2 CCC), along with an Eastern Oregon loss at Southern Oregon, moves the squad into first-place in the Cascade Conference standings with three matches remaining in the regular-season. C of I has won or shared each of the last seven CCC regular-season titles.
C of I never trailed in Set 1, jumping out to a 15-6 lead and cruised to the set win, while withstanding a big Owls (13-16, 6-9) rally in Set 2 to earn the win. Set 3 was all Yotes, sprinting to a 10-1 lead to complete the sweep.
Liz Myers had nine kills and nine blocks in the win, with Emily Ottinger adding seven kills. Sierra Porter returned to the line-up, notching 28 assists and eight digs, with Janel Porter leading C of I with 15 digs.
Tech got seven kills from Kelsey Sampson, but were forced into 28 hitting errors.
C of I completes the road swing tomorrow with a 7 p.m. match vs. Southern Oregon.
