Concordia Stops Lady Yote Booters, 5-1

Box Score

PORTLAND, Ore. – Five different Concordia University players scored a goal, as the No. 4 ranked Cavaliers recorded a 5-1 victory over The College of Idaho in Cascade Conference women's soccer action at Tuominen Yard.

The Cavaliers (8-1-1, 2-0 CCC) opened the scoring in the 26th minute, as Erin Huisingh made a long run down the left side, sliding a low drive into the right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. CU extended the lead to 2-0 in the 32th minute, as Alicia Kolter served a cross into the box, finding the foot of Maddie Aldrich at the top of the six-yard box for the easy counter.

The Lady Yotes (3-6, 1-1) cut the lead in half in the 40th minute, as a tackle in the box gave C of I a penalty kick – which freshman Allie Boyd converted, the first goal allowed by CU in 376 minutes and just their fourth goal allowed in 2013.

The momentum was short-lived, as just before halftime, Kolter touched home a goal off a nifty pass from Morgan Rooney. CU added insurance goals in the second half from Ariel Kanable and Hannah Kimsey.

The Cavs held a 20-2 edge in total shots in the victory and recorded all seven corner kicks on the afternoon. C of I keeper Melissa Holmes-Joseph had six saves in the loss.

The Lady Yotes open up their home schedule next weekend, hosting Oregon Tech on Thursday and Southern Oregon on Saturday.
