LEWISTON, Idaho - Jenna Loheed tied a career-high with 14 kills as Lewis-Clark State completed a season sweep of The College of Idaho, grabbing a 25-14, 25-22, 13-25, 25-22 victory tonight in the LCSC Activity Center.
The Warriors (15-10) extended their win streak to four in a row in the series between Gem State rivals, while the Lady Yotes saw their six-match overall win streak snapped.
L-C dominated the opening set, getting a pair of service aces and three combo blocks as part of a 13-5 run that broke open a 10-7 score to take the early advantage. Set 2 saw the Yotes rally from a 15-10 deficit to square the score at 21-21 on a Kylee Nawahine kill, but kills from Loheed and Keisha Luebbert-Kennedy helped LCSC escape and take the two sets to none lead.
Liz Myers had a monster third set, smashing five kills, as C of I used an early 5-1 surge to take a lead they would never relinquish. Set 4 saw L-C score the first five points, only for the Lady Yotes to pull even at 12-12 after a Warrior hitting error and take a 21-20 lead after a Darby Santos ball handling error. However, kills from Luebbert-Kennedy and Loheed, along with two C of I attack errors gave the hosts the advantage to close out the match.
Luebbert-Kennedy had 12 kills in the win for LCSC, with Nikura Toribio adding eight kills, 17 digs, and three aces.
Myers led the Lady Yotes with 12 kills and five blocks, Nawahine added 11 kills and 15 digs, with Emily Ottinger recording 10 kills and three blocks. Jayde Folsom, in her first collegiate start, had 41 assists, while Janel Porter led C of I with 15 digs.
The Yotes return to action on Friday night, hosting Warner Pacific in C of I's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night - as fans are asked to wear pink to the match.
