ASHLAND, Ore. - In a battle of the two unbeaten teams in the Cascade Conference, The College of Idaho ended a six-match losing streak at Bob Riehm Arena, stunning host Southern Oregon 26-24, 27-25, 25-16.
Box Score
The No. 15 ranked Lady Yotes (9-4, 6-0 CCC) ran their win streak to six - winning a pair of tight sets before rolling to a convincing victory in the final set.
Southern (8-7, 4-1), who rallied from two sets down to win two of their last three matches, used a 9-2 run in the opening set, getting a pair of Angela Spieker aces and a pair of Haley Kalser kills, to lead 13-6. The visitors would chip away, eventually tying the set on a Raider attack error at 21-21. The teams would trade six-straight side-outs, before a quick-set over the net by Sierra Porter gave the Yotes their first lead since early in the frame, with a Kylee Nawahine kill ending the set, stunning the hosts.
Set 2 was the opposite, as the Yotes took a 13-7 lead - thanks to three-straight errors by SOU, but the Raiders would rally, staving off a pair of set points to tie the score at 24-24 on a Sofia Anxo hitting error. The two sides would trade combo-blocks, before a Jessica Peacock kill and a Southern hitting error gave The C of I a two-set lead.
Unlike recent matches between the teams, Set 3 was not close, as the Coyotes jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead, pushing the margin to 16-7 after three-straight Jordan Crossley hitting errors, ending the match on an Anxo kill.
Torrey Hulsey led the way with 13 kills and five blocks for the Yotes, while Anxo had nine kills, with Peacock and Nawahine each logging eight. Porter had 35 assists in the win, with Janel Porter recording 22 digs.
Kasler led SOU with 13 digs, but the Raiders committed 25 hitting errors in the loss. Libero Renee Yomtob led all players with 23 digs.
The Lady Yotes return home next weekend for matches against Warner Pacific and Concordia.
