KIRKLAND, Wash. – Kylee Nawahine and Jessica Peacock each registered double-doubles, helping The College of Idaho open Cascade Conference play with a four-set victory over Northwest University, winning 28-26, 15-25, 25-17, 25-21, inside the Northwest Pavilion.

Despite 30 hitting errors and 12 service errors, the Lady Yotes (4-4, 1-0 CCC) evened their season record with the victory – their 16th straight against the Eagles.
Set 1 saw 13 ties and seven lead changes, with the Eagles (2-4, 0-1) using a five-point run – including two Ashton Arbuthnot aces, to break a 12-12 deadlock. The Yotes would tie the set at 19-19 on a Sofia Anxo spike, but NU responded with three quick points, grabbing a 23-20 lead. However, kills by Liz Myers, Nawahine, and Torrey Hulsey got the Yotes back in the set. After staving off one set point – thanks to a service error, kills by Nawahine and Peacock gave the Yotes the edge.
NU dominated Set 2, breaking a 7-7 tie with a 12-2 run, including a trio of kills from Breanna Covey and four C of I errors, to roll to the win. The Yotes returned the favor in Set 3, as a pair of Kelsey Soos aces helped the visitors out to a 15-8 lead, retaking control of the match.
Set 4 featured 12 ties, the last at 13-13, before the Yotes used a 8-1 push to put the match away – including three-straight Nawahine kills.
Nawahine had 11 kills and 16 digs, Peacock added 10 kills and 13 digs, with Hulsey recording 10 kills and three aces. Sierra Porter had 24 assists to lead the Yotes, with Janel Porter tying a career-high with 22 digs. The Yotes won despite a .103 attack percentage.
NU got 11 kills and six digs from Covey, with Olivia Vandlac recording nine kills and 11 digs, with Heather Shulke leading all players with 36 digs.
The C of I closes out the road swing with a 7 p.m. match tomorrow night at Evergreen.
