Lady Yotes Fall 4-0 to No. 22 Westminster

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - A four-goal second half outburst helped No. 22 ranked Westminster College defeat The College of Idaho, 4-0, at the Westminster Women's Kickoff Classic at Dumke Field.

Box Score

After the two sides played the first half between the 18's, the Griffins (2-0) used a 13-1 shot advantage in the second half to take control of the game.  WC would score the eventual game-winner in the 56th minute, as Lorin Wathen played a corner into the middle of the box, finding the head of Amanda Peppers, who cracked the ball into the twine.

The Griffins made it 2-0 in the 68th minute, as off a corner, the Lady Yotes (0-2) cleared a ball off the goal line, but not out of the box.  Alyssa Hill collected a loose ball and finished inside the six-yard box.

Westminster tacked on a pair of goals inside the final five minutes, as Peppers chipped a 25-yard shot into the goal, with Hill cracking a 20-yard drive into the left corner of the net.

WC held a 20-3 edge in total shots, while holding the Lady Yotes without a corner kick.  C of I keeper Melissa Holmes-Joseph made seven saves in the loss.

The Lady Yotes return to action on Sept. 8, traveling to rival Northwest Nazarene.
