LA GRANDE, Ore. - For the eighth time since 2007, the College of Idaho was picked to win the Cascade Conference title, as the 2018 CCC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll was released by the league office.
The Lady Yotes, coming off a 28-7 season in 2017 - advancing to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships - received eight of the 11 first-place votes from the league coaches, earning 117 voter points.
It is the first time C of I has earned the top billing in the poll since 2014 - with the Yotes earning the No. 1 spot each year from 2007-09 and also from 2011-14. The squad was picked second in both 2015 and 2016 and started last season ranked No. 3 by the CCC coaches.
Both Eastern Oregon and Southern Oregon received a first-place vote and were tied for second with 96 voter points, while defending league champion, Corban, received the final first-place vote and was a close fourth (92 points).
C of I opens the season next Wednesday and Thursday at the Hope International Summer Slam in Fullerton, Calif.
