AUSTIN, Texas – College of Idaho swimmer
Maddy Kelly was honored today as a second-team selection to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America ® College Division Women's At-Large Team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The senior becomes the second women's swimmer to earn the award in program history, joining former teammate Mckayla Stevens, who was honored as a first-team selection in 2016 and 2017.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America ® College Division At-Large Team is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two year institutions. The team boasted an average grade point average of 3.97, including 13 student-athletes with a 4.00 or higher grade point average.
The at-large program for the Google Cloud Academic All-America ® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men. To be nominated, student-athletes were required to be at least a sophomore in eligibility, maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important reserve on their team. Those selected earlier in the month to one of the four first-team Academic All-District teams comprised the final ballot for selection for the Academic All-America ® Team.
Kelly, a native of Lebanon, Ore., had a banner season for the Lady Yotes, earning three individual All-America honors and three relay All-America honors at the 2018 NAIA National Championships, helping C of I to a seventh-place team finish.
She was honored earlier this season as a NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete.
