AUSTIN, Texas – Three College of Idaho student-athletes were honored as a first-team selection to the Google Cloud College Division Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-District 4 Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Earning the accolades were men's athletes
Tyler Truksa and
Erik Nordquist, along with women's athlete,
Claire Otero. The trio were selected to the District 4 team – encompassing athletes from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and all of Canada – each honored for both their athletic and academic prowess.
Truksa, a junior from Caldwell, placed ninth at the Cascade Conference Championships in the triple jump and added a 13th-place finish in the long jump.
Nordquist, a senior from Jerome, earns the honor for the second-straight year, was a member of C of I's cross country team that placed tenth at the NAIA Championships and added a pair of Top-15 finishes in the 5,000 and 10,000-meters at the CCC Championships.
Otero, a senior from Caldwell, earns the honor for the second-straight season. She is a three-time Cascade Conference champion and school record holder in the discus – earning All-America honors in 2016 and qualifying for nationals in both 2017 and 2018.
Each of the All-District winners is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America award, to be announced in mid June.
