BOISE, Idaho –
Hayley Morse continued her dominant senior season with a record-setting meet, headlining the College of Idaho in the regular-season ending Boise State Border Clash at Dona Larsen Park.
Morse opened the meet on Friday night by placing second in the hammer throw with a school-record throw of 49.88 meters (163 feet, 8 inches), improving her NAIA "B" mark. She followed it later in the night with a second-place finish in the discus, recording a personal best mark of 42.37 meters (139 feet) – the top throw in the Cascade Conference this season and missing the national cut by three centimeters.
Saturday, Morse upped the ante again, destroying her shot put school record with a heave of 14.26 meters (46 feet, 9.5 inches) – the No. 6 mark in the NAIA this season and over a foot and a half further than her previous mark. She now holds the No. 1 mark in the CCC in all three throws heading into the league championships, May 11-12, in Hermiston, Ore.
Also in the field events,
Allison Cossins broke her own school record in the pole vault, with her mark of 3.36 meters (11 feet, 0.25 inches) the No. 2 standard in the CCC. In the triple jump,
Brinley Reed recorded a personal-best leap of 10.55 meters (34 feet, 7.5 inches).
On the track,
Kiersten Lancaster recorded an NAIA "B" mark in winning her heat of the 100-meter hurdles (15.00 seconds) – the top mark in the CCC this season.
Payge Durocher clocked the top 100-meter time of the year for C of I (12.79) – placing second overall – while helping the 4x100-meter relay team shave over a second of their top time (49.30) and also winning the high jump (1.49 meters / 4 feet, 10.5 inches).
