Lady Yotes Net Two Top-25 Finishes in USCSA Slalom

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – A pair of Top-25 finishes by the College of Idaho women's alpine ski team was the highlight of the day, as the Lady Yotes placed 13th in today's slalom event at the USCSA National Championships on Whiteface Mountain.

C of I was unable to get three scoring racers to complete two runs – with their team-time of 6:41.50 including a ghost mark – dropping the team seven spots after a great morning session.

Competing in her final collegiate slalom race, Mary Totten capped an amazing career with a 21st-place finish (1:55.21), with teammate Elyse Burandt right behind her in 22nd (1:55.53).

Rocky Mountain claimed the team title (5:21.76) – well ahead of Castleton University (5:28.28) and Sierra Nevada (5:29.64). Racing against some of the top schools nationally – the Yotes finished ahead of Minnesota, Northeastern, Lafayette, Stanford and Duke in the final standings.

The Yotes will close out the championships on Saturday with the dual panel slalom competition.
