LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – A consistent day in snowy conditions on Whiteface Mountain helped the College of Idaho men's alpine team to an eighth-place finish in the giant slalom at the USCSA National Championships.

Lucas Underkoffler narrowly missed All-America honors, clocking a two-run time of 2:20.53, placing 17th overall. True freshman
Trevor Trimble had a solid day, improving 13 spots in the afternoon run, placing 30th (2:26.73).
The Yotes finished the day with a two-run time of 7:22.01 – well ahead of Wisconsin, Cornell, Army, Penn State, Michigan State, Stanford and Virginia Tech. Clarkson claimed the team title (6:50.56) – outlasting Sierra Nevada (6:50.54) and Rocky Mountain (6:51.54) by less than one second.
Anthony Schifone (2:34.75) placed 52nd – as the Yotes third scoring racer – with
Brady Nilsson in 54th (2:35.65) and
Jarod Esnoz in 62nd (2:41.73).
C of I will use tomorrow as a training day in preparation for Friday's slalom championships.
