WALLA WALLA, Wash. - A big final day from
Chris Carew helped the College of Idaho hold off Walla Walla University for second-place in the team standings as the Yotes competed at the Walla Walla Invitational at Wine Country Golf Club.
Carew shot the best final round of the tournament - a 1-over-par 73, vaulting into fifth-place in the final standings (80-76-73 - 229) - six strokes behind medalist Kyle Claggett of Fraser Valley.
As a team, the Yotes finished at 88-over-par (320-304-328 - 952) - 52 shots behind UFV (900) and 16 shots ahead of WWU (968).
Reed Burroughs finished alone in eighth-place (73-71-89 - 233);
Clancy Cockerham placed in a tie for 12th (82-75-83 - 240), with
Michael Piazzini taking 21st (88-83-83 - 254).
The Yotes return to action in two weeks at the Warner Pacific Invitational.
