COLUMBUS, Ga. – Three All-America performances and two school records helped the College of Idaho remain in sixth-place at the NAIA Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships inside Columbus Aquatics Center.
Maddy Kelly became the Lady Yotes first-ever 3-time individual All-American, while freshman
Caroline Yannelli earned All-American honors and earned points in two separate individual events.
Both athletes opened the day as part of the 200-yard medley relay – teaming with
Deandre Small and
Hailie Mazick to place sixth in the championship final, earning All-America honors with their school record time of 1:48.35.
Yannelli followed with a second-place finish in the consolation final of the 400-yard individual medley, clocking a seasonal-best time of 4:41.55. She added two stellar swims in the 100-yard breaststroke, recording the second-fastest time in program history in the preliminaries (1:05.75), while placing sixth overall to earn All-America honors in the championship final.
Kelly broke her own school record in the preliminaries of the 100-yard butterfly (57.33), placing sixth in the championship final to earn All-America honors.
Others competing today included Small, who placed 19th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.56) and 20th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.22); Mazick, who had a season-best time of 2:01.71 in the 200-yard freestyle, placing 25th; and
Abby Schwarte, who placed 21st in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.29).
Day 4 of the meet begins Saturday with preliminary races at 9 a.m. (EST), with the finals set for 5 p.m. (EST)
