FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Underclassmen
Natalie Little and
Marissa Shirley earned a pair of victories, including key singles wins, to lead the College of Idaho to a come from behind 5-4 victory over Pacific University at Holce Tennis Courts.
Shirley, a true freshman, teamed with
Megan Huffman to earn an 8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles over the Boxers (2-6) Callie Oyama and Mai Kobayashi, to give the Yotes a 2-1 lead in the match. Little, a sophomore, added C of I's other doubles point, as she and
Alex Sorte won 8-5 at No. 2 over Johanna Wilson and Sophia Nishimura.
After Pacific earned wins at the top-two singles slots to take a 3-2 lead -
Hailey Boyd pulled the Yotes (1-4) even with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kobayashi at No. 3.
Up stepped Shirley, who cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Taylor Smallwood at No. 5 - with Little following with the clinching 6-0, 6-4 win over Marissa Hayashi at No. 4 to claim the match win.
C of I returns to action in mid-April with matches at Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran.
