HERMISTON, Ore. – Three College of Idaho athletes earned individual victories and the Coyotes recorded 19 Cascade Conference qualifying marks at the Eastern Oregon Team Challenge at Kennison Field.

The Yotes placed third overall as a team with 141 points – trailing Northwest Nazarene (183) and Central Washington (164), but ahead of CCC rival Eastern Oregon (127.5).
On the track,
Matt McLaughlin claimed a convincing win in the 400-meter hurdles (56.41) – easily hitting the CCC automatic mark, while teammate
Josh Frey hit the league standard with a victory in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:11.15).
C of I used a tempo run to earn six qualifiers in the 10,000-meters – with each of the runners within 10 seconds of each other.
In the field events,
Keith Bailey won the triple jump with a mark of 13.17 meters, while both
Josh Brown and
Brooks Ney hit three qualifying marks – Brown in the shot put (13.68 meters), discus (45.89 meters) and hammer throw (46.73) and Ney in the high jump (1.82 meters), long jump (6.37 meters) and 110-meter hurdles (15.78).
The Coyotes return to the track in two weeks at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
