GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. -
Mary Totten and
Beth Mixon blitzed the field with dominant performances, leading the College of Idaho to a 16-second victory in today's Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference giant slalom qualifier at Mount Hood Ski Bowl.
Totten recorded the two fastest runs of the day, with her combined time of 1:26.58 a second and half faster than Mixon (1:28.02) - who had the two second-fastest times on the course. The duo outdistanced the remaining athletes - as British Columbia's Anastasia Kiku finished three seconds back (1:31.03).
The Lady Yotes cruised to the team win with a team-time of 4:30.05 - well ahead of the University of Washington (4:46.92) and UBC (4:49.81).
C of I got a big effort from
Dana Randolph, who placed ninth (1:35.45) - with
Erin Skufca (1:41.82) and
Emily Gahn (1:47.71) each recording Top-20 finishes, Skufca in 14th and Gahn in 19th.
The eight teams return to the hill tomorrow for a second giant slalom qualifier.
