Yotes Record 1st Ever All-America Honor at Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ga. - A record-setting performance in the 800-yard freestyle relay gave the College of Idaho men's swim team their first All-America honor in the 14-year history of the program, headlining Day 1 of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships inside Columbus Aquatics Center.

The team of Thomas Sheridan, Cooper Salmen, Matthew Kahlig and Andrew Clifford recorded a time of 6:55.57, finishing eighth overall in the field of 19 squads. The mark was over three seconds faster than the previous school record set in 2016.

C of I was one of eight teams to earn All-America status - as the NAIA expanded All-America individuals and relay teams from three to eight places.

Day 2 of the meet will feature competition in the 50 and 500-yard freestyle, the 200-yard IM and both the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relays. Preliminary heats are set for 9 a.m. (EST), with the finals at 6 p.m. (EST)
