Â
WHAT'S AT STAKE: The three conferences that make up the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Western Region join forces this weekend in the Teton Mountains for the regional qualifier to determine the three teams which will head to the USCSA National Championships. Members of the Northwest, Grand Teton and Rocky Mountain conferences will compete in giant slalom and slalom races, with the combined scores from the two events determining the national berths.
Â
COMPETING TEAMS: Seven members of the Northwest Conference are expected to compete (British Columbia, C of I, Idaho, Oregon, Puget Sound, Washington and Washington State), along with five teams from the Rocky Mountain Conference (Western State, Colorado Mesa, Air Force, Colorado Mines and Colorado State) and host school and Grand Teton Conference champ, Rocky Mountain. Teams from the University of Colorado, Montana State and Denver University are expected to compete as guest teams, but are ineligible to take the national team berths.
Â
LAST SEASON: Rocky Mountain swept both team titles at the Western Regionals, held at Brundage Mountain in McCall. The C of I finished fourth as a team on the women's side and fifth on the men's side, each team earning a bid to the USCSA National Championships.
Â
